An advanced training covering the efficient use and configuration of ASYCUDAWorld Selectivity and Valuation Control modules was delivered by an ASYCUDA Programme expert from 17 September to 12 October 2023 at Djibouti Customs Headquarters. This 4-week course involved the participation of 15 customs officers and is a key component of a World Bank-funded project through which UNCTAD is providing technical assistance to Djibouti Customs.
Selectivity enables customs to improve risk management decision-making by using processing channels which include red, yellow, blue and green lanes. Valuation control is a module that analyzes declared customs values and assesses their accuracy based on the history of declarations and database records.
Training organized and delivered by the ASYCUDA Programme is based on the presentation of theoretical concepts followed by their implementation on ASYCUDAWorld and practical exercises for the participants to assess their understanding and application. Participants also have access to an e-learning platform developed by the Programme which includes written documentation, video tutorials, exercises, forums and satisfaction surveys.
This training is part of the technical assistance provided by the ASYCUDA Programme to Djibouti Customs to help them use their ASYCUDAWorld system efficiently; enhance its features such as selectivity, e-payment and the settlement of dispute; implement interfaces for the exchange of data with the Djibouti Port Community Systems and commercial banks; and raise the operational capacity of its staff.
