The Zambia Revenue Authority has started piloting the ASYCUDA Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) module at all Zambian international airports.
The module helps to speed up customs clearance times for express consignments, simplify the air cargo clearance process, reduce errors in submission, improve data accuracy and enhance security for all air cargo.
As part of the implementation, from the 1 June, all airlines and cargo couriers will be required to submit electronic manifests for air cargo shipments prior to the consignment’s arrival at Zambian airports.
The system is part of ZRA’s continued efforts to enhance efficiency, security and transparency of customs clearance for air cargo.
The ACI module enables airlines, their appointed agents and other relevant parties involved in cargo transportation to use new facilities within Zambia’s ASYCUDAWorld system to submit manifests for all air cargo shipments.
The ACI module was developed based on WCO recommendations for goods categories classification and based on IATA cargo XML filing. It helps customs to ensure that transactions are compliant with IATA’s international standards, but also uses ASYCUDA’s ASYExpress and ASYRisk modules to accelerate the release of smaller consignments shipped by express operators and improves customs’ ability to manage the risk associated with such consignments.
